WANT to make sure everyone has socks in their stockings come Christmas time? Then head to the Fremantle City Library this September to learn the best ways of knitting your own socks.
Using a basic step-by-step formula, instructor Mary Tarrant will spin her yarn as she guides people on how to knit socks in any size and various designs including traditional, fashionable and individual creations.
The only knitting knowledge required is how to cast on, knit and purl, along with time to knit between each lesson.
Mary Tarrant, 78, is a long-time Fremantle resident who has knitted socks from a young age and recently published the book Socks Anyone Can Knit, guiding beginners on the art of sock-knitting.
Classes are $21 to cover materials and will be held from 1pm to 4pm each Saturday on September 22, 29 and October 6 – call Mary Tarrant on 9335 7059 for bookings and payment. Numbers are limited.
