Parade Day – Fremantle Festival Information

libstrans

Calling all library members who want to join the Fremantle City Library’s walking float at the Fremantle Festival!

Sunday 16th of November is when it happens, and you can still register your interest by ringing 9432 9766 or emailing us at frelib@fremantle.wa.gov.au. See the previous post for costuming ideas.

After the jump are a few details to remember for those who are joining us on the day:

Starting Point:

The parade starting point is at Car Park 11 at the intersection of Marine Terrace and Essex St (diagonally opposite the Esplanade Hotel). No vehicles other than those participating in the parade will be allowed to park in Car Park 11 on the day. Consider using public transport to travel to Fremantle, as the city centre will be very busy!

Arrival Time:

Participants on foot are required to arrive, already transformed into a book character, by 3.00pm. The parade starts at 4.00 pm.

Forming up:

The Library float is number 6 in the parade. The parade number will be marked on the ground in the car park. Participants need to remain within the bay until the parade commences.

Sun Safe:

There is only a small amount of shade available in the marshalling area. Bring water, sunscreen etc. Sunscreen will be available also at the Parade Registration Marquee. This area will also act as a “cloak room” and a lost children point and will be manned at all times.

Parade Step Off Time:

The parade will step off at 4.00 pm. Cockburn SES members are acting as marshals for the parade. The first street on the route is Marine Terrace. Keep a measured pace to allow maximum parade time – don’t march too fast!

Parade End:

The parade route finishes back at Car Park 11. Please return directly to our allocated space. Do not stop at the mouth of the car park! The parade flag must be returned to the marquee once we finish. All rubbish must be put in bins or taken from the Esplanade.
