We asked some of the staff here, and came up with the following list of good, thought provoking, discussion inducing titles to enjoy on your own, or with the members of your book club.

What books would you recommend? Leave us a comment.

  1. More suggestions for the list – great book club reads from our group in 2008.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist by Mohin Hamid
( short listed for the 2007 Booker Prize. Political edge with elements of a thriller. Thought provoking)

Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen ( set in the Great Depression in the US, this book was the top choice in our book club last year. My elderly mother loved this book too.)

Crow Lake by Mary Lawson ( Canadian author- family saga, beautifully written giving the reader an insight into the landscape of northern Ontario)

I have many more recommendations and am happy to post these!

    • Thanks Jennifer, these are great choices. Had not come across Crow Lake before, and will check that one out. Would love to see more suggestions if you have some!
