On the 18th of September, we all enjoyed the company of authors Craig Silvey and Tania James at Moore’s Gallery as part of the Big Book Club.

Community Info Librarian Jane Brinsden did a stellar job as MC for the night, despite Craig’s request to ‘do something outrageous’.

The night began with a sip of wine and some delicious nibbles provided by Moore & Moore café and distributed by ever-helpful library staff. It was a wonderful night of insight and discovery. Tania wowed the audience with her delicate and descriptive writing style and humorous delivery. Craig had the audience captured by his intense relationship with his work, highlighting the ‘coming of age’ aspect of the novel with stories from his own childhood. The venue was perfect and allowed for informal discussion, readers got a chance to ask questions and also share their own experiences of reading the books.

A little while back, Craig visited the library but didn’t quite get to join up. And yes, Jane did give Craig a membership form for the Fremantle Library which he was most grateful for.
