2010 Fremantle Heritage Festival

Join in this year’s 2010 Fremantle Heritage Festival, running from the 28th May to the 7th June. You can download the full program here.

The Local History section, located in the rear of the Library, is running a number of workshops and presentations, including the following:

Using the National Archives with Marjorie Bly
Fancy becoming the family genealogist? Marjorie Bly, Assistant Director
of Access and Communications at the National Archives of Australia,
Perth Office, will demonstrate how to use and access the archives for
your family history research.

Researching your house history with Kristy Bizzaca
Renowned historical researcher, Kristy Bizzaca will conduct a workshop
explaining how to go about researching your house and its history. Kristy
will show you how to use rate books dating back to 1880 to discover when
the house was built and who occupied and owned the property at any
given date. Come along to learn about this fascinating process and watch
as your house slowly reveals its secrets!
