Talks of the Town – April 2011

April 8
Author Talk – Sara Foster

Beneath the Shadows pays tribute to the gothic tradition, with nods to some all-time classics such as Rebecca and Wuthering Heights. However, it is also a thoroughly modern tale of a young woman’s strength in the face of incessant hostility and doubt, in the hope that she can find what she needs to set herself free.

Sara Foster lives in Western Australia with her husband and young daughter. She has worked as an editor in the publishing industry in both London and Australia for many years. Her first novel, Come Back to Me, reached No. 10 on the SMH Fiction bestseller list in February 2010.

Author Talk – Liz Byrski

Liz Byrski will be speaking at Fremantle’s Town Hall Reception Room about her new novel ‘Last Chance Cafe’. Liz’s novels are focused on mature women who are living to the full and the challenges of life that do not stop as they grow older. Last Chance cafe tackles this theme, following two different generations of mature women as they live in a culture that celebrates youth and where sexism is making a comeback. Can they answer the question, ‘When is it OK for women to be their age?’
