  1. Came into the blog to leave a comment re decembers book. Only Megan and I present. we both thoroughly enjoyed it. The response to las months was mixed. Like you I enjoyed it to the extent that I went and got some more of Allendes books! Have only read one, set in Africa and didnt enjoy that as much. I think her in depth knowledge and experience of S America enabled a far greater feeling of ‘being there’ and actully made the fantastic plausible. Others hated it. SO yes there was a lot of discussion

  2. sorry a bit late for the meeting but couldn’t get my computer to work!
I enjoyed this book and it made me aware how little I knew about S American history – must learn more. Was a bit confused when I read the questions for discussion though. I wish I had been at the meeting to see what you all thought! I felt that life was so awful for her that her only hope of escapism was through her imaginary world of stories. Many of the characters, in “real life” were actually rather fantastic as well and it was often a rather shady area between fantasy and reality. A good read.
