Author Noreen Reeves spent three years with her teacher husband and three young children on a primitive outstation on Bougainville Island, Papua New Guinea and dealt with the day to day challenges of scant food, no electricity and a dilapidated, rat infested house. The family then moved to the farming district of East Gippsland, Victoria. After 12 years, undaunted by life on the land and wanting to test their limits, they bit the bullet and purchased a 1000 square km dust-covered, sparsely vegetated rain inhibited sheep station in Western Australia.
Two Shakes of a Dead Lamb’s Tail is the true story of a young, naïve and courageous woman’s path of expectations, frustrations and disappointments along with a large dose of reality. Her family’s resilience and tenacity of living in isolation sends a positive message about strength of character, in sometimes trying circumstances.
